Mr. Tang has extensive experience and knowledge in corporate law and litigation.
In 2011, he had the distinction of being awarded the prestigious CC Tan Award by the Law Society of Singapore, which is an award honouring members of the Singapore Bar who have, throughout their careers, displayed the highest ideals of the legal profession – honesty, fair play, courtesy and personal integrity.
Mr. Tang is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors and currently serves as an independent director on the Boards of several public listed companies in Singapore. Mr Tang also sits on the Board of Directors of the Nanyang Girls’ High School.
Mr. Tang served as one of the Chairmen of the Disciplinary Committee established under the Legal Profession Act for more than 10 years. He was formerly the Chairman of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules Committee of the Law Society of Singapore, and is presently still serving as one of its members.
After Singapore’s independence in 1965, Mr Tang served the country full time between 1968 and 1972, as Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Finance (1968 – 1970), and Minister of State for Finance (1970 – 1972). He was also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 1972 to 1981, and a Member of Parliament from 1966 to 1988 while practising corporate law and litigation in the firm of M/s Rodyk & Davidson.
Mr. Tang had co-written three books entitled Directors’ Duties and Liabilities (1985), Your Rights as a Consumer (1986), and Contract Law (1987).
